Motorola MOTO Z10

The Motorola MOTO Z10 represents a straightforward upgrade of the MOTO Z8, and it manages to overcome many of the shortcomings of the Z8 while retaining most of the good features of the previous model.
window.google_render_ad();
We will say from the outset that we're not keen on the MOTO Z10's looks, something that we felt was a problem with the Z8 too. It looks pretty much indistinguishable from a whole load of other Motorola handsets, and yet the Z10 (and the Z8 before it) are two very accomplished 3G smartphones.
As with the Z8, this is a "kick slide" phone which actually curves around to make it more natural to use. The Z8 won praise for the slide mechanism, and we expect the MOTO Z10 will follow the same high standards of usability and construction

The MOTO Z10 is a 3.5G device supporting HSDPA high-speed data and UMTS 2100 MHz. It's also a quad-band GSM phone with GPRS and EDGE support. There's no WiFi though, but most buyers won't care too much about that. The display is a 2.2" 320 x 240 pixel panel in 16 million colours.
window.google_render_ad();
One weakness with the old Z8 was the camera, and this is much improved on the MOTO Z10. It is now a 3.2 megapixel unit with autofocus, a "Superfast" multishot function and video capture at 30 fps. However, there's no flash and Motorola haven't specified the Z10's video capture resolution. Videos can be uploaded to YouTube or other services, and basic editing can be done within the phone itself. The Z10 also supports video calling.
This is a Symbian UIQ smartphone, as was the Z8. Again, the Z8's software and user interface was very well received, and the MOTO Z10 will build on this. The Z10's media player is also pretty comprehensive, supporting MP3, MPEG4, AAC, AMR, WMA, 3GPP, H.263 and H.264 formats. The Z10 also supports stereo Bluetooth for playback, or it can be used with one of a range of new speaker systems from Motorola.
Memory is expandable up to a whopping 32GB using high-density microSD (SDHC) cards. Overall the Z10 measures 109 x 50 x 16mm and weighs 115 grams. Talktime on the Motorola MOTO Z10 is an impressive 5 hours on 3G, or 5 hours of video playback.
It's not a Nokia N95 killer, but the MOTO Z10 is certainly an impressive, highly-specified phone. If you have a Z8 already, then it might not be worth upgrading quite yet.. the rumours are that Motorola will have some even better phones coming up in the near future, but if the flaws of the Z8 put you off, then the MOTO Z10 does look to be a much improved device.

Motorola say that the MOTO Z10 should be available during Q1 2008, although no pricing information was available at the time of going to press.

Samsung F490 launched

Samsung has decided to launch it’s new 5 megapixel full touch screen phone - Samsung F490 in some strange way.
Since there were no news about this handset at CES this week, I thought they were saving the announcement for the big 3GSM show in Barcelona, next month. But I was wrong. Samsung SGH-F490 is being launched today.
Why waste the opportunity to show off the new phone at the one of the biggest trade shows of the year? And then then issue a press release, about the flagship product, that will likely be lost among the flood of news reports coming from CES?Beats me. But here’s the official Samsung F490 press pics.
And the official Samsung F490 specifications:
Tri band GSM (900/1800/1900), UMTS 2100, HSDPA 3.6 Mbps
3.2″ 262K Color 16:9 Wide Full Touch Display with Haptics feedback
Croix interface
5 mpx camera, video recording (MPEG4, QVGA at 15 fps)
Front camera for video calls
Video playback at 30 fps
130 MB of Internal memory
Built-in mobile Google apps
microSD card slot
standard 3.5 mm headphone jack
Bluetooth 2.0 (A2DP+AVRCP), USB 2.0
Dimensions: 115 x53.5 x11.8 mm
Weight: 102g
Overall, Samsung F490 looks like a real good phone/media player/Internet browsing device in one slim package. Although only 15 fps video recording is a bit disappointing for a device of this class.
Samsung F490 price is expected to be around 500 EUR and it will star shipping in Europe firstVia Gizmos.esEnjoyed the story? Get the news and updates as we publish them. SAMSUNG F700

Seems like every few days another mobile phone vendor tries to steal some thunder from Apple’s much anticipated iPhone. Samsung has now thrown their hat into the ring by throwing down with their own widescreen, touch-sensitive media phone.

The Samsung Ultra Smart F700 features a sleek, modern design that’s a little more rugged looking than Apple’s iPhone. For starters, the F700 has a large, 2.78-inch touchscreen display, running at 240×400 resolution. In addition, it’s got a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard lets you quickly type e-mails and text messages. It’s a full triband GSM phone, with 3G support for EDGE, GPRS,UMTS and HSDPA high-speed wireless service, as well as Bluetooth.

The phone features robust multimedia playback capabilities for MP3 and MP4 files as well as a variety of other formats. The F700 also has a solid 5-megapixel digital camera, with a smaller secondary camera for teleconferencing. A full HTML web browser is also included. While the F700 doesn’t feature some of the fancier features of the iPhone such as the accelerometer or multi-touch display, nor does it offer WiFi access, it does one-up the iPhone with its expandable memory, 3G support and slide-out keyboard.

Keep an eye out for this one later this year.

Review Nokia 7370 Cellular Phone

The Nokia 7370 Cellular phone is the latest and the most inspiring playful cell phone of Nokia series. The Nokia 7370 can be considered as one of the revolutionary design in the cell phone industry. It adds a cool new twist to the world of beauty and style with its fluid swivel design, leather-inspired accents and etched metal surfaces.

window.google_render_ad();
The Nokia 7370 cellular phone is designed to makes heads turn instead of sliding. The Nokia 7370 is available in coffee brown and warm amber design. From our point of view, coffee brown is more suitable for men and warm amber design if more suitable for women for its sharpness in design.
HandCellPhone has both design pictures in this review.
The Nokia 7370 measures 3.46 x 1.69 x 0.91 inches and weighing only 3.67 ounces, easy to carry in your hand, pocket or purse. The 180-degree rotator design with ergonomic tilt swivels open to reveal a tactile keypad that responds to your touch. On the keypad, there are 5-way scroll key, 2 soft keys, sends and end keys, camera Key, volume/zoom key which should looks very familiar to Nokia lovers as the keypad design is very similar to other Nokia cell phones.
This cool design cellular phone comes equipped with 1.3-megapixel digital camera, video recorder, and Mp3 player. The digital camera supports up to 8x digital zooms with different modes like color, black and white, and sepia which add funs in picture snapping. However, from our review, the video recorder is not performing well as our biggest disappointment with it is the video recorder only capture up to 4 minutes movie clip. The integrated music player of the Nokia 7370 supports MP3/AAC/M4A formats which is very handful for users. However, WMA file is not supported for the Nokia 7370. Another cool feature of the Nokia 7370 is the visual radio function that allows us to listen to music and interact with your favorite radio stations.

LG KG920

LG have announced the new LG KG920 mobile phone, which comes fully-loaded with a 5 megapixel camera. Although LG have released other mobile phones with similarly-high megapixel cameras, the KG920 is aimed squarely at Sony Ericsson's CyberShot phones, focusing heavily on the quality of the pictures it can take. Details and more pictures of the LG KG920 after the jump.
Update - you can buy the LG KG920 now in the UK from e2Save (Carphone Warehouse's cheaper online store).

The LG KG920 comes with a 5 megapixel camera with magnesium flash. Camera-specific features include white balance adjustment, ISO settings of 100, 200 or 400, and red eye reduction. Pictures can be taken at a resolution of up to 2,592x1,944, giving super-clear 6"x8" prints at 300dpi. The KG920 supports miniSd cards of up to 1GB in size. As you can see (below), the pictures are very good, although whether they're as good as Sony Ericsson's CyberShot phones we'll have to wait and see. Being a

Korean phone, though, LG aren't content with just adding a decent camera to the phone, and so the KG920 also comes with an MP3 player and 30fps video camera. It also has a nifty form factor, with the camera lens swivelling seperately from the screen, enabling the user to take self portraits or other pictures from unusual angles. Expect the LG KG920 to be available only in Korea initially, but with Sony

Ericsson pushing its Cybershot phones hard, it shouldn't be too long before the KG920 or a phone of similar qualities makes its way to markets around the world. Update - you can buy the LG KG920 now in the UK from e2Save (Carphone Warehouse's cheaper online store). A 5 megapixel cameraphone in your sweaty palms today...what are you waiting for?! LG-KF510, a designer phone that works

LG have launched their new LG-KF510, a designer phone that packs in some pretty top rate features. The features themselves aren't novel - all phones come with MP3 players, digital cameras, and the life these days - but what the LG-KF510 does is to provide high performing versions of such features in an attractive handset.
For example, the digital camera isn't just a 3 megapixel camera; it's a 3 megapixel camera with power flash and 1 second response time, meaning you can actually take decent photos in the gloom, as well as taking photos the second you see something interesting happening. The impressive thing about this is that these features are being presented in a designer phone, which traditionally focuses more on looks and less on the quality of the features it offers. Indeed, most designer phones simply include the features in order to fill out the spec sheet, with no thought on the quality of those features given to the design at all.
The reason for this is the odd way we consumers behave. We want a phone to look good, so we buy a designer phone. But if one of our friend says "oh, but it's only got a 1 megapixel camera", we suddenly don't like it, even if we know we'll never actually use the phone's camera feature. So we look for a phone that looks good and has all the features we a phone needs, irrespective of the quality of those features, as we secretly know we'll never use them!
We're odd beings, we humans!
So traditionally the designer phone rested on the laurels of its good looks, and didn't really bother too much with its features. As such, it's refreshing to see LG break the mould somewhat with the LG-KF510.
The design of the LG-KF510
The first thing to focus on with the LG-KF510 is obviously the design of the thing. It's a slider, with a metal exterior that's painted either Stardust Dark Gray or Sunset Red, with each paintjob featuring a color gradation. The front keys are simple LEDs that are touch sensitive and animated, which works well with the paintjob, giving an overall look of modern simplicity.
The actual keys of the keypad are revealed when the phone is slid back, and here the designer phone doesn't look so designer - in fact, it just looks so so! Rather than the checkerboard or diamond pattern of previous designer phones (such as LG's Chocolate or Shine range), the keypad seem to have come from an old 2001 brick! No matter, they work well, and it's the main front of the phone that most people see anyway.
The features of the LG-KF510
As for the features, well, they seem to work remarkably well. The camera, for example, acts like a camera, taking photos when you want it to, not asking for you to wait while it catches its breath, builds up a head of steam, and then takes the picture. How many times have you taken photos of your friends with a poor camera phone, and had to get them all to sit still for a minute or so while your camera phone gets itself ready to actually take the pic?
If your mates are anything like mine, you'll end up with a a photo album full of blurred gurning goons, all because they were too impatient (or drunk!) to sit still long enough for the camera to take a decent shot. It's nice to see a designer phone that doesn't have this problem.
There's also an MP3 player with playlist feature, but this really isn't that innovative, despite LG's claims.
All, in all then, the LG-KF510 seems like a fine new addition to LG's range of designer phones, and sees the company extending its lead in this area at the expense of Motorola.
As Dr. Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, puts it, "2008 is the year for a new paradigm in mobile phone design and LG is setting the benchmark...We have established ourselves as a leader in this field and the LG-KF510 is a unique addition in our mobile portfolio. With its sleek aesthetic and superior technology, it will appeal to many discerning consumers that value both style and substance."
Which just about says it all, really!
The LG-KF510 release date is April 2008, or about two weeks by my reckoning!

Nokia 5300-5200 Nokia 3250 three great looking mobile music phones.

Nokia have announced the new Nokia 5300, Nokia 5200 and Nokia 3250, three great looking mobile music phones.
Covering the full price range, from the low-end 5200 (EUR 200), through the slightly higher 5300 (EUR 250), to the more expensive 3250 (EUR 400), Nokia are pushing the music features of their new phones hard.
"With today's launches we are reaching out to a broad range of consumers who want both the features of a modern mobile phone and a quality music player in a single, stylish device," says Heikki Norta, Senior Vice President, Mobile Phones. "
More details and pictures of the Nokia 5200, 5300 and 3250 after the jump.
Nokia's XpressMusic has been around some time on many of its preiouvs phones, but more as an added extra rather than the main event.
With these three music phones, though, Nokia are really going for the music abilities, laying down a direct challenge to Sony Ericsson's Walkman range.

One thing you can say about the phones - they look great. Very neat, compact and stylish, with easily-accesible music buttons, they're clearly designed around the music first rather than the phone.
Better still, with the help of the Nokia Wireless Audio Gateway AD-42W, you can stream your music collection from the phone to any stereo, which is a nice feature.
The phones are expandable via microSD cards of up to 2GB (equivalent to 1500 tunes), and come with a 1.3 megapixel camera, and the usual extras.

Today i got a samsung wep 200 demo from the store to try out a couple days. The soundqualti isnt as good as my nokia bh900 but im impressed with the size of the wep 200. The thing i dont like with the wep 200 is the desktop charger. The chargers top must be closed for the headset to charge and its hard to get the lock off after the charging is done.. Enjoy the pictures.

Motorola MOTO Z10

The Motorola MOTO Z10 represents a straightforward upgrade of the MOTO Z8, and it manages to overcome many of the shortcomings of the Z8 while retaining most of the good features of the previous model.

The Z8 won praise for the slide mechanism, and we expect the MOTO Z10 will follow the same high standards of usability and construction.

Nokia N98

It is evident that the iPhone success does not allow other mobile phone producers to live in peace. Nokia is among them.

According to Nokia France, in the nearest future the "iPhone killers" line will be enriched with one new model from the famous Finnish company - Nokia N98. Regardless of the loud Nokia announcements that iPhone cannot be the rival of the N series smartphones, the company is in the process of preparing a reasonable answer to the "apple" bestseller. As it can be clearly seen by its design N98 resembles very much with the iPhone, but according to many technical features new smartphone from Nokia is even better than its rival.
